Why Make the Trip?

From the Great Lakes region to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, roughly half our customers drive one to two hours to visit us, which begs the question: WHY? We have identified four reasons:

1. Our relationship with the Lehigh Valley Velodrome.  The Lehigh Valley Velodrome is the single most successful bicycle racing facility in the United States, serving as one of the country's incubators for olympic and professional cyclists of all variety.  As the official bike shop of the Velodrome, The Velo Shop must subscribe to standards of uncompromising excellence that simply are not found in the cycling retail landscape.
   

2. Our breadth of brands.  We carry twelve of the most celebrated brands known to the industry, from the perennial tour-winning Pinarello to the gritty cyclocross dominator, Focus. The great misnomer of the cycling industry is the belief that one or two brands can meet the needs of all cyclists.  This simply isn't the case.  Cycling manufacturers employ radically different design philosophies which translate to a wide variety of riding experiences.  Whether it is road, mountain bike, track, cyclocross, or gravel-grinder, our inventory represents the full panoply of design philosophy the industry has to offer.  No one bike company builds the perfect bike for all customers, but at The Velo Shop we will find that one, perfect bike for you.
   

3. The ability to test ride bikes in earnest.  Thanks again to the Velodrome's 40-year history, the pastoral roads surrounding The Velo Shop have served as some of the finest training roads in the country, if not the world, for generations of world-class cyclists.  These roads allow our customers to take out brand after brand, not for a two-minute, stunted stroll in the parking lot, but for extended rides of meaning and purpose.  Would you spend thousands of dollars on a car and not test drive it first?  Of course not; so why would you buy a bike without really riding it!!  We have loops of 3, 5, 7 and 9 miles of varying terrain which allow our customers to really put these bikes through their paces. In addition, Macungie, PA served as the home of Mountain Bike Nationals in 2014, further lending our area to exemplary test-ride opportunities for the off-road crowd.
   

4. Our owner, leader and motivational force:  Becky Quinn.  Becky has dedicated her life to cycling, achieving the sport's highest platitudes.  And the thing Becky most enjoys in life is her love of the bike and spreading that love.  Becky offers a level of expertise, guidance and insight in the bike selection process that simply can't be found elsewhere.
